Time to start crossing some bucket list items off our list!  Starting with pumpkins of course.

Los Angeles has been MELTING with an insanely stifling heat wave – can we say 114 degrees?!?! I mean, the sunshine is great…but COME ON!  Give us a cool breeze or something.  Fortunately we have air conditioning unlike many of my friends closer to the ocean, so I can’t really complain that much.  But I’m also super pregnant, so I’m gonna say I have a right to complain since my feet and hands are feeling extra sausage-y due to this lovely swelling inducing weather.  When the temp is high 80s at 10pm something is not right. Ok. Rant over.

Since the weather is decidedly NOT cooperating in giving us a fall feel, I’m compensating by filling my house with gourds and littering my stoop with pumpkins.

Here are our favorite pumpkin patch locations in/around Los Angeles:

Forneris Farms:

This patch is located on an actual farm where you can pick your pumpkin, ride a tractor pulled train and meander through the incredible corn maze.  The tractor pulled train, corn maze and farm frolic are all included with your admission.  You can also pay extra for face painting, pony rides and the petting zoo on weekends.  They have a small refreshment stand and live entertainment on weekends.

When: Oct. 1 – Oct. 31 (Weekends 9-5, Weekdays 2-5)

Where: 15200 Rinaldi Street, Mission Hills, CA

Cost: $15. for admission to tractor train, maze and farm frolic.  Other activities additional cost. (under 2 Free)

Tanaka Farms

You can pick a pumpkin OFF THE VINE here!!! This farm is fall-tastic!  You can take a wagon ride around the 30 acre farm, pick your own pumpkins off the vine, pick fall produce including green beans, carrots, onions and radishes, visit the petting zoo with over 40 animals, meander through a corn maze, and even do some fun carnival games.  There is even a pumpkin cannon….yes, cannon they shoot pumpkins out of.  What?!  We will definitely be hitting up this hidden gem for some fall fun! Make sure you wear closed toe shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and bring water!

When: Oct. 1 – Oct. 31 (9-6 daily) *some activities only available on weekends

Where: 5380 3/4 University Dr., Irvine, CA 92612

Cost: $2 admission + additional cost for activities (expect $2-5 per activity) pumpkins 89 cents/pound

Underwood Farms:

This is the place to go for pumpkin loving, animal loving, activity loving little ones!  This patch is a bit of a trek, BUT it is truly a day full of activity.  Not only are there pumpkins galore, but there are fun hayrides, activities, animals to pet, ponies to ride, shows to watch, trains, mining for treasure…the list goes on and on and on.  We love this farm, but please know that it can get HOT out there, so check the weather, bring your sunscreen and lots and lots of water.  Also note that every weekend has a different “theme” so check the website to pick the one you think you will enjoy the most – my vote is for the All About Pumpkins weekend cause I love seeing the amazing carved pumpkins that mine will never look like!!

When: Oct. 1 – Oct. 31 (9am-6pm)

Where: 3370 Sunset Valley Rd, Moorpark, CA

Cost: $12-20 depending on weekend ($6 weekdays) + additional cost for some activities (although there are PLENTY of activities included with admission to keep your kiddos more than entertained)

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch

This is our FAVE for staying close to home and easily scoring a great pumpkin.  They do an amazing job of keeping their “lot” festive and quaint without feeling like you are in a parking lot.  This is also where you may or may not spot celebrities picking out their perfectly round pumpkins (cause all the pumpkins here are pretty darn perfect.)  Honestly if you have a newborn or don’t feel like trekking out to one of the farms, this is the lot to go to.  This year they have added live weekend entertainment, even more activities, VIP tickets, an Ultimate Kids Pass and the ability to ‘skip the line’ by paying your admission ahead of time. Sit on the giant rocking horse for instagram-worthy photos, let your little ones wander through the tepees and pumpkin village or buy activity tickets to enjoy all the other activities like pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, pumpkin decorating and more!  Bonus: Opening weekend (Oct. 1 & 2) is FREE admission!!

When: Oct. 1 – Oct. 31 (9am-9pm Fri/Sat, 9am-8pm Sun-Thurs)

Where: West LA College, 10100 Jefferson Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232

Cost: Free weekdays and opening weekend (Oct. 1-2), $10 weekends (includes $5 off pumpkins for adults or 3 activity tickets for kiddos), $5 Early Bird/Evening (9-11am & 6-9pm on weekends – still includes pumpkin discount or activity tickets) + activity tickets (additional cost)
